Paradise Pier Hotel

Location: Disneyland Property

Description:

Celebrate the heyday of California beachfront boardwalks at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. Step back in time at this old-fashioned yet modern hotel—home to a variety of dining, shopping and recreation opportunities—and ride a wave of relaxation from your charming seaside-themed room all the way up to the rooftop pool for some welcome fun in the sun.

Our Take

The Paradise Pier is the cheapest property hotel at the Disneyland Resort. It offers great views of Disney California Adventure Park and a rooftop pool. It is the furthest hotel away from the parks and does require a decent amount of walking to get to them. The rooms are really fun with a beach style theme and bright colors. It’s a great place to stay if you want to experience a property hotel without breaking the bank.

This is a pretty tall hotel that towers of California Adventure Park. All the rooms are either 2 queen beds or 1 king bed. Some do offer a daybed as well in them if you have 5 guests. You can also do concierge with the rooms here which gives you free breakfast and snacks throughout the day. Our opinion? It’s never worth the extra cost. The rooms are bit older and have never been redone since the hotel was built.

Paradise Pier Hotel

One thing that we really don’t like about the Paradise Pier Hotel is the elevator situation. While the height of the building offers great views, they failed at putting in significant elevators for guests. Sometimes we would wait 4-5 minutes just to get in an elevator from the lobby. Just be prepared!

Some of our favorite rooms are the Cabana Rooms that offer backdoor access the the pool. You walk out of your room and right to the pool. They also have a little patio with some chairs. Most rooms at the Paradise Pier Hotel don’t have this. You can request one of these rooms when you’re booking or afterwards by calling the hotel.

There aren’t any amazing restaurants at the Paradise Pier but it does have the Surf’s Up! character breakfast featuring Mickey and the gang. It’s somewhat pricey but it gives you an opportunity to see your favorite characters one-on-one. Reservations are required. You can purchase discounted character dining vouchers here. They’re the same price as you would pay at the restaurant but they already include taxes and gratuity! That’s some big savings!

The rooftop pool is really fun. It’s located on the 3rd level of the hotel and has some great views of the surrounding area. Not many people know that you can watch the Disneyland fireworks from here at night and they even pipe in the music from the show to some speakers on the rooftop. There is an infant pool for little ones and a bigger one for everyone else. You can get drinks and food at The Sands Bar located by the pool.

Since security got moved to the perimeter of the parks and Downtown Disney, guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel can no longer walk across the street to the Grand Californian Hotel to enter the parks or use their private entrance. A security guard will ask you for your hotel key to the Grand and if you don’t have one they’ll point you back the way you came. So now Paradise Pier guests have to walk to the entrance of Downtown Disney over by the Disneyland Hotel and then head towards the parks. It’s pretty annoying (unless you’re staying at the Grand).

Pros:

  • Amazing views of California Adventure Park.
  • Short walk to Downtown Disney.
  • Extra Magic Hour every day of your stay.

Cons:

  • A decent walk from the hotel to the parks.
  • Rooms are a bit older but nothing to fret about.
  • No great restaurants on-site.
  • Elevator situation is not great.
